  • PRODUCT INFO

This Single Origen specialty coffee was named after our hometown city Calarcá who was a pijao cacique who resisted the Spanish Conquest of the territory that is currently Colombia . At Easter of 1607 he raided against Fort Maíto in the company of Cocurga, Coyara  and forty other indigenous warriors. The fort was defended by less than thirty Spaniards, led by Captain Diego de Ospina , who fired his weapon at Calarcá’s chest. The cacique died while his group fled.

A legend, of an apocryphal character invented in the nineteenth century, relates that Calarcá did not die as a result of the bullet, but at the hands of Combeima, cacique coyaima who thus avenged the murder of his son.

In honor of the cacique, Calarcá was named , founded in 1882 by Antioquenos.
